Jochen WILD

Jochen WILD, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Aerodynamics and Flow Technology of the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V. - DLR), earned his doctoral degree (Dr.-Ing.) at the Technische Universität (TU) Braunschweig in May 2001 and was habilitated (venia legendi) by the same university in May 2021.
His scientific research in about 30 years at DLR covers all aspects of high-lift aerodynamics and the aerodynamic design of high-lift systems. His first works implemented numerical optimization with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to a validated design environment. He is an acknowledged expert in applied numerical optimization using CFD for aircraft applications. He joined and coordinated multiple European Research projects with emphasis on aerodynamic design, e.g. EUROLIFT 1 & 2, DeSiReH (coord.), AFLoNext and UHURA (coord.) as well as national projects (LEISA (coord.), MOVE.ON).

He was involved in high-lift design activities with the large European projects within CleanSky, CleanSky 2 and CleanAviation. He teaches High-Lift Aerodynamics at the TU Braunschweig and Aerodynamics at the Ostfalia Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften [Institute of Technology]. He is Associate Editor for the CEAS Aeronautical Journal and serves as reviewer for a number of scientific journals. He has contributed to 75 peer reviewed publications in journals and books and more than 100 conference contributions. He published the „High-Lift Aerodynamics“ book (Routledge / CRC, 2022) and contributed the high-lift chapter to the German „Handbuch Luftfahrzeugtechnik“ ([Handbook of Aircraft Technology], Hanser, 2014).
